Rust-en-Vrede Gallery and Clay Museum was established 37 years ago and since then, many well-established artists
had their first solo exhibitions here. Literally thousands of artists have come through our gallery and museum doors,
either with solo exhibitions, group shows or competitions.
Rust-en-Vrede Rescue is an end of the year group exhibition where artworks, donated by various artists who have
exhibited, supported or participated in competitions at the gallery and in the clay museum during its 37 years of
existence, will be exhibited.
Declared a National Monument in 1984, the building is home to the Durbanville Cultural Society (trading as
Rust-en-Vrede Gallery and Clay Museum) - a registered Non-Profit Organization in Durbanville, Cape Town, aimed
at supporting the local visual arts scene.
2020 Has greatly impacted the art and museum industry, including Rust-en-Vrede. All proceeds of this exhibition will
go directly towards running the cultural facility. We thank all of the participating artists for their generous
contributions, as well as the many art lovers, members and collectors who have supported the gallery through the
years and especially in 2020.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our most vulnerable communities has sparked a new way of thinking at Rossouw Modern. We've now started an initiative that donates a portion of the proceeds from all sales towards Charities and individuals supporting especially the homeless, children and elderly.
For the foreseeable future, most artists (including Corné Eksteen) in our stable will donate 10% of their income from all sales, while Rossouw Modern will more than match their generosity by donating 20% of each commission earned - the client can also indicate which charity they would like us to support. In this way our Gallery is adding to our ongoing involvement with the upliftment of Hermanus communities.
