Welcome to the Transmutation mini-site. Dedicated to the Corné Eksteen art exhibition that took place during October 2014, at Karoo1 Art Gallery, De Doorns, South Africa.
"Transmutation" opened to the public on October 4, 2014 at the Karoo 1 Art Gallery, outside De Doorns, Western Cape, South Africa. The exhibition consisted of 12 new artworks.
"Transmutation" is defined as the action of changing or the state of being changed into another form. This concept was explored through the creation of 12 portraits where the visual appearance of subjects were altered by the creation of painted layers and their physical images transformed into abstracted versions through various techniques.
Works included in the "Transmutation" exhibition ranged from as small as 34 x 32cm to large scale works of 2,4 x 1,7 meter.
All works were produced in oil on canvas.
